Tayloe Lawton Graves, 91, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017. She was born in Savannah, GA (delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Marion Xerxes Corbin) on December 30, 1925, to Albert Sidney (Jock) Lawton and Tayloe Corbin Lawton. Tayloe graduated from Landon High School in 1942, received her BA degree from the University of Georgia and subsequently worked as a social worker in Jacksonville. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of Florida, the Sanctuary Guild of St. John’s Cathedral, the Junior League of Jacksonville and the Watsonia Garden Club Circle.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Marian Lawton Langford.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edwin Holt Graves, sons Holt (Betty Ann) Graves of Jacksonville, Corbin (Barbara) Graves of Tallahassee, and Bryan Graves of Atlanta, grandchildren include Corbin (Byerly) Graves, Lawton (Sarah) Graves, Aaren Graves, great grandchildren Chesson, Anna Corbin, Weslyn, Walker, Sidney, and Chambers, sister Susan Butz of Gainesville, FL. Special thanks are offered to her caregiver Alfeta Graham.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30pm, Thursday, February 16th, in St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral 256 E. Church St., Jacksonville, FL 32202. The family will receive friends after the service in Taliaferro Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tayloe’s memory may be made to St. John’s Cathedral or the National Society of Colonial Dames.
