Bruce Carswell Newman, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025. He was 85. Bruce was born on February 22, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of James Warren and Jewel (Youmans) Newman.
Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to fish, play golf and just hang out with family and friends. He was also known to have a funny joke no matter where he went. He was also a loyal Florida Gator fan through the good times and the bad.
Bruce is survived by his lovely wife Frances (Hutchinson) Newman; son, James Warren Newman; daughters, Tammy L. Newman, Kristi Jewel Newman Johnson, and Holly Frances Newman. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Newman Segroves, Makayla Newman Sterner, Christie Renee Morgan, Kyle William Morgan, Kendal Danielle Newman, Michael Alan Allbritton, Karli Jewel Smith Morgan, Lily Frances Ellis, Jonah Carswell Johnson, Jedi Carlisle Johnson, Alyssa Lauren Blankenship, and Zoey Kendal Newman.  He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Matthew Lee Segroves, Brantlee Roland Sterner, Kaiden Michael Lee Chauncey, Wyatt Alan Allbritton, Jemma Gabrielle Chauncey, Krista Danielle Hatcher,  William Thomas Morgan, and Cooper Brooks Carroll.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Jaimie Lynn Newman.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 27th at the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and continue until the time of the funeral service. The Evergreen Chapel is located at the base of the bell tower on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Evergreen Funeral Home – (904) 353-3649.
