Cathy Talbot, 62 of Jacksonville Florida went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
Cathy was born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, to William Aikens and Thelma Sharon on March 4, 1961. The majority of Cathy’s childhood was spent in Pennsylvania, with a quick stop in New Jersey before moving to upstate New York where she later graduated from Oneonta High School in Oneonta, New York. Later in life, Cathy moved to Jacksonville, where she called home for the remainder of her life.
Cathy is survived by her son Derrick Talbot and wife Jessica; 4 grandchildren: Colbie, Benjamin, Norah, and Wesley Talbot of St. Johns, Florida; and sister Darlene Baird of St. Augustine, Florida.
Cathy followed in her father’s talents with a passion for remodeling and building projects. She enjoyed renovating her home as well as building projects for her family. Over the years she tackled a variety of home improvement projects including installing flooring, remodeling kitchens and bathrooms. She built pergolas in her garden, an outdoor swing, a kitchen table with benches to match, and an especially memorable dollhouse for her oldest granddaughter. Just to name a few.
Cathy was a longtime employee of McLane Inc. She began her McLane career as a Retail Merchandiser and eventually moved into a Reset Merchandising Specialist role where she enjoyed traveling throughout the Southeastern US working alongside her co-workers.
Above all, Cathy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Whether it was attending kids sporting events, hanging out at her house, or just grabbing lunch with the family, Cathy’s biggest enjoyment came from being around her family. Cathy had a particular affection for making the holidays and birthdays exceptionally special.
Funeral services for Cathy will be held at 2pm on March 31, 2023 at St. Josephs cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at the St Joseph Cody Center.
