Darrell Glenn Ray, Sr.

Darrell Glenn Ray, Sr.

Darrell Glenn Ray, Sr., age 60, of Atlantic Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023.  He was the youngest son born to parents, Joyce & Charles Ray, Sr. and little brother to Charles (Chuck) Ray, Jr. and Brett Ray.

He graduated from Sandalwood High School in 1980.  He and Lisa Hulsbeck (Abbate) welcomed a son, Darrell Ray, Jr. in 1984.  In his life, Darrell held an amazing array of occupations which include fisherman, corrections officer, flight attendant, and physical trainer.  Luckily, many of his jobs allowed him to further pursue his passions: body building, travel and surfing.

Darrell was devoted father, son, brother, and loyal friend.  His storytelling was unmatched.  He had the best stories, and his laughter will be sorely missed.

Darrell is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother (Brett Ray).

Darrell is survived by his son, Darrell Ray Jr. and Family (Trisstina, Abigail and Shosanna Ray); brother Charles (Chuck) Ray, Jr. and Family (Barbara Ray, Dennis Severt and Courtney Ray-Musgrove), and Sister-in-law Layne Ray and Family (Alexis Fromm).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Matthew Gray Scholarship through The Florida Board Riders via Dane@floridaboardriders.com

I just found out Glenn has passed away. We were good friends years ago. He always made me laugh. When my kids were younger, he spent time with us. Going to the playground, movies, and the beach. He taught my daughter how to surf. I’m shocked that he is not here. I know he will be greatly missed.
