Edith Yvonne DeLoach, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 10th, 2022. She was 96. Edith was born July 15th, 1925, in Macon, Georgia to Nora and Curtis Webb.
Edith (Meme) attended Jackson High School. She married Mel DeLoach in Riverside, California on June 6, 1943. They enjoyed 71 years together until Mel’s passing in 2014. Throughout life, Meme was a wife and mother extraordinaire. She loved her family and gave her all to make sure their lives were full of love and happiness. Her home was always full of love and warm, happy meals. All occasions were made special with her caring ways, and she made sure everyone was included in all events. Her smile was her face.
Meme’s favorite hobby was doll making. She received many blue ribbons from different fairs and events where she and Mel would show them. She loved making them and it afforded her much pleasure to take them to shows. Meme was also a talented seamstress and a member of a local sewing club. Among her many accomplishments was the creation of a beautiful wedding gown. After retirement, she traveled along the eastern coast of the U.S. She was also a member of the Spring Glen United Methodist Church.
Edith is survived by her son, Ronnie (Darlene) DeLoach; grandson, David DeLoach; grandchildren, David L. DeLoach, Elizabeth Nora DeLoach, Max DeLoach, Christian DeLoach, Scott Washington, and Erica Grek; great-grandchildren, Ramie Lane, Reid Grek, Cole Washington, and Zachary Washington.
Edith is predeceased by her parents, Curtis and Nora; husband Mel, Meldrin Thomas, Joe DeLoach and Joe Joe DeLoach.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 18th at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206. Visitation will begin at noon and continue until the time of the funeral service. Dr. Timothy McDaniel will preside. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
