Edward Lee “Lee” Stroud

Lee Stroud, age 82, of Hilliard, Florida, passed away on February 16, 2024.  He was born on August 28, 1941, in Tabor City, North Carolina.  Lee, a retired Firefighter Engineer from the Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Department, served in the United States Air Force.

Described as kind, loving, understanding and helpful, Lee was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Boulougne in Hilliard, Florida.  In his free time, he enjoyed working in his garden and traveling extensively, having visited New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Arctic Ocean in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Brown Stroud, sisters-in-law Barbara (Alton) Stroud, Sandy Brown Barber, sister Betty (Paul) Volkner, brother Joe Stroud,  grandchildren Shelby Rhoden, Nick Stroud, Kyle Murphey, great-grandson Anthony King, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Agnes Stroud, father- and mother-in-law Albert and Jessie Brown, brothers Alton and Jimmy Stroud, children Sherri Stroud Adams and Jeffrey Stroud, and granddaughter Jessica Stroud King.

A funeral service to honor Lee’s life will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Evergreen Chapel, 4535 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be in the Chapel 1 hour prior to the service.  Brother Paul Lucas, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Boulougne, Hilliard, Florida, is officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
