Ed Gardiner passed away on September 6, 2017 at the Warner Hospice Center in Fernandina Beach, FL. Ed was born April 19, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Florence Gardiner who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his two older sisters, Lillian Peltier and Florence Sharp. Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris, daughters, Karen Gardiner and Lisa (Joe) Valinho, grandchildren Jordan Gardiner, Harlie, Celeste and Joey Valinho, great-grandson Conrad Gardiner and brother, Richard (Vicki) Gardiner. Ed also has an extended family of many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ed spent many years as an employee of the St. Regis Paper Company, which brought him from New York to Jacksonville in 1968 and later with TDS in Jax. During retirement he enjoyed weekly golf outings with the Hoi Polloi golf group until his health forced him to hang up his clubs. Ed and Doris have been members of St. Elizabeths Episcopal Church for over 45 years where Ed ushered, led the Mens Club (M.O.S.E.S.) and was known to flip a mean pancake. St. Elizabeths, 1735 Leonid Rd., will host his memorial service on Monday, September 18th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to St. Elizabeths Episcopal Church or Community Hospice.
