Elouise Ashby Dean Slade

A shining star has gone dark after a courageous battle: Ellie passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Her presence warmed all hearts with joy. Ellie always cared, and gave to others before herself; her life of giving started by teaching special education students after college. Her love of family, and history led her to an “Honor Roll” member of The National Society of Colonial Dames of America: and the Ximenez-Fatio House in Saint Augustine.

For 45 years Ellie and glass artist/husband Bill traveled America, exhibiting at art festivals. She was the magic that fueled Bill’s success, and their loving relationship. Ellie’s passing leaves us with a missing piece, but gives us a lifetime of kind lessons, and well earned happiness. She lives forever in our memories, and missed more than words can express. Services will be January 4, 2024 at 2:00; Evergreen Funeral Home; 4535 Main street, Jacksonville, Florida. A celebration of Ellie’s life will be in the future.
