52 years ago God reached me while in the US Navy stationed at Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida. A few of us Christians at Cecil Field came to “The Serviceman’s Center”. Mr. Kent Edwards ran the center and took us to University Baptist Church where we met Gary Newman who gave us rides to and from University Baptist Church. (We also met Martha Bartley, and attended their wedding). I met and married Janice Longenecker there also. Since then I pastored 3 churches, retiring in 2012. I will never forget Gary for his faithful service to the Lord, hauling us sailors back and forth to church and the servicemen’s center. I am sorry to hear he passed before I could personally thank him for all the help he gave us. .God Bless his Legacy.
