Gene M Parker, 74, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Sunday April 16, 2017.
Gene retired from the Jacksonville Sheriffs Department in 2004 after 36 years. He was a JSO helicopter pilot for 27 years. He was an avid Gator fan. He served 4 years in the US Navy.
He is preceded in death by his son Travis Bates, brothers Leo Parker & Ray Parker.
Survivors include his wife Freda Parker, sons Sean (Sarah) Parker, Tracy Bates, daughter Carmen (Randy) Hoke, three grandchildren & four great grandchildren, sisters Linda (George) Shuman, Kay (Leonard) Towns, brother Lee (Dale) Parker, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 11:00 AM Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Evergreen Chapel with Randy Hoke officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services with JSO honors. Interment will be 2:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
Gene was very proud in helping to establish a Life History Scholarship in Travis name. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Travis R. Bates Memorial History Endowed Scholarship at UNF.
