Helen Lorraine Hyatt

Helen Lorraine Hyatt

Helen passed away peacefully on her own terms, on Sunday November 24, 2024 at her home in Jacksonville Florida surrounded by her family.

She was born Helen Sczepanksi, February 28, 1931 in Madison, Minnesota. She married John Hyatt on June 14, 1957. Together they had 3 Children, Debra Leonard (Michael) and Shelly Kersch, both of Jacksonville, and David Hyatt of Naples, Florida. She has four grandchildren: James Taylor (Jessica Carroll), Austin Wilchar (Angel), Ashley Edwards (John) and Chad Kersch, all being of Jacksonville, as well as four treasured great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Ruth Sczepanski and Kurt Sczepanski.

She earned a degree from the University of Minnesota that she applied to her first career in the dental field. Her primary career could be described as sales but it amounted to so much more than that. Helen was proud of her work in advertising, publishing, retail and wholesale sales. She was driven and both started and owned several businesses throughout her career, employing numerous people over the years. Her hobbies were  shopping (And boy could she find a bargain!) and she was an avid and accomplished Bridge player, which she did often before her sight failed her. She was a member of the Southside Women’s Club of Jacksonville and was active in the Chamber and other business organizations.

Services will be held at the Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church on December 7th at 11:00AM followed by a lunch and reception. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Shepherd of the Woods Luteran Church or Community Hospice of Jacksonville.
