Howard John Dobel, 66, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2020 from complications from liver disease.
Howard was born July 6, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York to Howard & Joyce (Parlier) Dobel. The family soon moved to Lynchburg, Virginia where Howard grew up swimming competitively. He also played varsity basketball and football in high school.
Throughout his life, Howard maintained a passion for learning including strong interests in politics, technology, and current events. He thoroughly enjoyed spirited discussions and debates with friends and family. He was particularly passionate about issues that affected the disabled and homeless.
Howard was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Joyce. He is survived by his brother, David Dobel, his aunt, Ann Luihn Brown, and several loving cousins.
A memorial service will be held graveside at 10:30 AM Thursday January 16, 2020 at the Evergreen Cemetery on 4535 Main St Jacksonville, Florida 32206 (904) 353-3649.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salzbacher Center in Jacksonville, Florida or the American Liver Foundation.
