Hugh Beckwith Foster, 72, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at The Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Jacksonville, Hugh was born on October 24th. He served for four years in the U.S. Coast Guard in Kauai, HI before being honorably discharged in 1973. Afterwards, Hugh dedicated 27 years to the Honolulu Fire Department. Upon retirement, Hugh moved his family back to his hometown and worked as a school bus driver for the St. Johns County School District for 15 years before retiring in 2016.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved pets Pumpkin, Pudge, and Thumper. Hugh was a hardworking man, from building his first home in Kauai from the ground up, to having several businesses of his own. It’s easy to say there was never a dull moment in his long journey of life.
Hugh is survived by his wife Monica R. Foster of 28 years, his four children, Julieanna S.M. Foster, Hugh B. Foster Jr., Ranae L.C. Pezak (Tyler), and Raymond G. Foster, his grandchildren, Ezekiel and Elijah Vega, his sister Susan Leonard (Benny) and three nieces, Meredith Morton (Scott), Sarah Whitmore (Robert), and Emily Leonard.
Hugh is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Louise Foster and his father, Hugh Foster, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the ALS Research Foundation. The family of Hugh B. Foster wishes to thank everyone for their love and support.
