James Thomas Raley, 71, born March 10, 1944 in Water Valley, Mississippi went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Stanley Irvin and Dorothy Tubbs Raley, and his brother William S. Raley. Jim, aka Coach and Coach Raley to many, was an avid lover of sports. Those who knew him, knew his passion for football. He never met a stranger he couldnt engage in a conversation about sports. He has mentored many individuals, young and old, over the years. Jim also had a passion for fishing and spending time with his family.
Jim graduated from Mississippi State University and coached at Ribault High School, Jacksonville; Forest High School, Ocala; Lake Brantley High School, Altamonte Springs, and Gardner-Webb University, Shelby, NC. He was also a successful business owner for 20 years in Shelby, North Carolina.
Jim is survived by his sister, Sue Albritton; son, Stan Raley (Leslie); daughter, Julie Hudson (Scott); and granddaughter, Shelby Hudson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held 10am Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Evergreen Cemetery.
Coach Raleys life will continue to impact others with tissue donations. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
