In Loving Memory of Jimmie Ough Stevens,
Jimmie Ough Stevens passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 at age 81. She was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and moved around frequently with her military family. One of 4 children, Jimmie adored her two brothers and sister and often reminisced about her childhood memories.
As a mother, Jimmie was always active with her children. She was either making cheerleading outfits for her daughter’s cheerleading teams or sitting on the sidelines at all baseball/football games taking score. She never missed an event nor an opportunity to volunteer. She was gentle spirited, generous with love, and steadfast in her care. Her legacy is now left to be carried forward with her children, Cynthia Bunn (Duane Bunn), and Michael Ough (Cindy Ough).
She was married to her beloved husband, Michael Stevens, for 32 years, and together built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Jimmie made certain everyone knew they were welcome, especially her granddaughters.
To her granddaughters, she was an amazing storyteller, a baker of favorite treats, an artist, and even a professional builder of indoor tents. Most of all she was the best sleepover buddy any grandchild could ever ask for. Jimmie taught her granddaughters the true meaning of love and how to be your true genuine self. Her granddaughters, Taylor Bunn (Nick Pinelli), Kirsten Ough, and Jordan Bunn will forever remember the love of their Maw Maw Jimmie.
For her church, Franklin Baptist Church, Jimmie was a volunteer bookkeeper and loved the many opportunities to be a part of this loving church family. The many potluck dinners, small groups and worship services were treasured.
Jimmie is predeceased in death by her parents, (Gertrude and Lowell Holland Russell, Sr), her brothers, (Lowell Holland Russell, Jr and Donald Russell), and her sister (Gloria Diane Russell).
For those who loved Jimmie, we invite you to celebrate her memory in a way that is most special to you. Take time to enjoy the simple things – looking out at the beautiful river as the sun goes down, sitting on a dock and fishing, or admiring a vibrant hibiscus for everything it has to offer. Jimmie will be forever in our hearts and remembered always.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 29th. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the Evergreen Funeral Home chapel, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206. The chapel area is located at the base of the bell tower on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Evergreen Funeral Home – (904) 353-3649.
