John Douglas McCallman, Jr

John Douglas McCallman, Jr., a life-long resident of Jacksonville, FL., was born on March 25, 1950 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the age of 72.

John was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Douglas McCallman, Sr. and Irene Hardman McCallman, his sisters Evelyn Catherine McCallman and Donna Leah Taylor, step brother, Seth Denmark, and brother-in-law, John D. Davis.

John is survived by his bonus mom, Patrice McCallman, his sisters, Barbara Travassos (Manuel) and Mary Davis, his brothers, Mark McCallman (Sue) and Richard McCallman, and step brother, Buddy Denmark, longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Ovaida, longtime friend, William Vance of whom he was care giver at the time John was called home by the Father, his beloved cat, Taffy, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

John grew up in Jacksonville, graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and graduated college with a degree in Business Administration. He earned his General Contractors License and was owner and operator of McCallman’s Construction Company for many, many, years.

John enjoyed the outdoors and loved to surf, scuba dive, snow ski, camp, travel, and ride his motorcycle. He loved life, loved his friends and family, and always had a smile on his face.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, located at 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Funeral services will begin at 10:30. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery located at 2600 Ribault Scenic Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32208

    I was introduced to John several years ago by my sister Jennifer. He was warm and welcoming, easy going and kind. John had a love for live and was a deeply caring and considerate man. He will be cherished by all who knew him. God bless.

    I met John in 1970 when we began a loving relationship that continued for about 10 years. He will always hold a place in my heart. My condolences to his family.
