Mr. Jonathan Hosea DeCosta was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 20, 1984 to his loving parents Hosea and Johnnie Mae DeCosta. At an early age he was baptized in Jesus’ Name at Jesus Only Apostolic Faith Church. He attended Andrew Jackson Highschool where he was on the wrestling team. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was caring, loving, and respectful. Jonathan had a heart of gold; he would help anybody. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter DeCosta, Elise Mungin, and Felton Sales.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Jaeda DeCosta, mother and father Hosea and Johnnie Mae DeCosta, grandmother Ruth Sales, siblings Corey Seay (Tasha), Bridget Hill, and Joshua DeCosta (Sylvia), nephews John Hill and Josiah DeCosta, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Funeral Service will be 11 AM Saturday February 29, 2020 at Philippian Community Church 7578 New Kings Road Jacksonville, Florida 32219. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5:30 PM Friday February 28, 2020 in Evergreen Chapel.

Jonathan…it hurts me to write this but I couldn’t let this moment go by without saying how much you are loved and how greatly you will be missed. We were inseparable in 10th grade (lol), and even after many many years and long distances, you still and always will hold a special place in my heart. Rest peacefully dear old friend.

My condolences to Johnny’s loved ones and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago. He was a polite, and respectful young man who had a beautiful smile and personality to go along with it. . I will miss him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
