June Baxley Roberts of Orange Park, FL passed away Saturday June 7, 2025. She was 96 years old. She was born in Lakeland, FL on June 9th 1928 to Maudie Reeca and John Middleton Baxley.
Ms. Roberts was preceded in death by her ex husband John T. Roberts. She married John T. Roberts on August 9, 1944. After divorcing they remained soulmates until his death on July 26th 2002.
Ms. Roberts is survived by her son Richard T. Roberts and her daughters Lynette Anderson, Marsha Smalls, and Melody Roberts. June has seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
A Visitation will be held Friday, June 13th at 1:00pm in the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel. The chapel is located at the base of the bell tower on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery. The funeral service will start at 2:00pm with Dr. Reverend Timothy E. McDaniel officiating. Internment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. My heart goes out to Miss June’s family. I remember I first saw her when I was 15 years old. I thought she was the most adorable “mom” I had ever seen. She was always so sweet and kind to me. I have been friends with her son for many years and babysat Marsha and Melody on occasion when they were young. I know she will be deeply missed but God allowed her to stay on this earth almost 97 years and it was time to take her home! God bless you all!
