Linda Bowen Cook, a cherished resident of Orange Park, Florida, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 16, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Lloyd and Jessie (Smith) Bowen, Linda lived a life filled with faith, love, adventure, and unwavering dedication.
Throughout her accomplished career, Linda served in a variety of accounting roles, bringing dedication and grace to every position she held. She retired in her 70s from Carlisle Interconnect Technologies in St. Augustine, Florida, leaving behind not just a legacy of hard work, but of kindness and integrity. Beyond her professional life, Linda embraced every moment of joy this world had to offer. She had a deep love for the Lord, a fondness for reading novels, and found great joy in the outdoors, participating in boating as a member of the Sea Ray Club of Jacksonville, waterskiing, and camping in her 5th wheel. Her love of travel took her to many beautiful places, but her greatest adventures were always shared with loved ones. With a competitive sparkle in her eye, she relished playing canasta and other games. Yet, above all, Linda will be remembered for the joy she brought and the laughter she shared – treasures that left lasting imprints on the hearts of her family and friends. She lived fully, gave generously, and loved deeply – and that love lives on in all of us.
Linda is remembered by her devoted husband, John R. Cook; her children Sherri Huggins, Rae Shaheen, Gabrielle Becil, Dannielle Torres, Anthony Cook (Kitty), Kristine Jefferson, and adopted daughter, Lisa Chapnerkar (Sudhir); her grandchildren (who fondly referred to her as Diddy) Michael Kelly, Tarynn Becil, Trent Huggins, Barbara Thurston, Allysen Becil (Grace), Samantha Thurston, Connor Thurston (Maranda), Jerrett Mitchell, Kirra Cook, Nathan Cook, Dinesh Chapnerkar, Aiden Shaheen, and Kamly Shaheen; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Rex Bowen (Royce) and Patricia Cochran, along with her beloved aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She now rejoices in Heaven alongside her parents, Lloyd Bowen and Jessie (Bowen) Douglas, and her beloved sister Barbara Marlin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Lake Asbury Baptist Church, 2674 Henley Rd, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043, with Pastor James Younis officiating. The family kindly invites guests to wear bright, spring colors as a reflection of Linda’s vibrant spirit. A reception and meal will follow at 1:00 PM—a time to gather, exchange stories, and enjoy the fellowship Linda so deeply loved. Family and friends are welcome to bring a dish to share as we honor Linda’s love for cooking and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Gray for Glioblastoma, in memory of Linda’s courageous fight.
Linda’s legacy of faith, love, and generosity lives on in all who knew her. Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and give thanks to God for the gift of her presence in our lives.

I’ll love you forever and a day, thank you for being my Diddy.
Diddy was my safe place—gentle hands, a warm laugh, and a faith that never wavered. She taught me to love God passionately and live with grace. Her prayers covered me, her love shaped me, and her example anchored my own faith in the Lord. Now she rests in the arms of Jesus, and though my heart breaks, I hold on to His promise: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” —Matthew 25:23. I’ll see you again, Diddy. Save me a seat.
