Malcolm Eugene Gore, Sr. (Mike) (Mac), of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was 97. He was born July 29, 192,8 in Camilla, GA. He served in the Navy for 4 years. He was employed by the newspaper in Camilla. Late,r he moved to Fernandina Beach, FL, and was employed by the News Leader, then moved to Jacksonville, FL, because he went to work for the Florida Times Union and worked there for 19 years. He then worked for Warecraft Press for several years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended North Main Street Baptist Church for many years until it closed. He loved being a deacon of the church and being involved in the activities and events at the church. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, and spending time with his family in Fernandina Beach and Georgia. He was a great father and family man. He married the love of his life, Magaline (Maggie) Guest Gore of Fernandina Beach, FL, and they were married for 41 years until she passed in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James M. Gore, Sr., and Autry Porter West Knighten Gore, as well as his 9 siblings, Katherine Williams, Joyce Morrell, Pauline Lofton, James Gore, Jr, Holcomb Gore, Cecil Gore, Wayne Gore, Steele Gore, and Wynell Carlton. He is survived by his son Malcolm ( Mickey) Gore, Jr. (Pamela), Melissa (Misty) Nordeng (Joe Sr.), and grandsons Kristopher Gore (Scottee Lane), Kyle Gore (Kimberly), Joe Nordeng, Jr. (Becky Johnson), and 8 great-grandchildren.

We would like to thank Community Hospice Center for Caring at UF Health Jacksonville for assisting us and seeing us through this transition of Daddy’s life.

His celebration of life will be on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Arrangements and care under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home (904) 353-3649
