Margaret (Maggie) Ryan Lotz, Lt. Col., ANC (retired), age 99, passed away January 23, 2019.
She was the daughter of Beatrice Meyer Lotz and George W. Lotz, Sr. She was born in South Carolina August 23, 1919. She attended local schools and graduated from St. Vincent’s school of nursing. In 1944 she became an army nurse. From 1966 to 1967 she served in Vietnam as chief nurse in the 7th Surgical Hospital unit and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement. She retired from the army after 23 years and worked of floor supervisor at Beaches Hospital for ten years. She was a lifetime dedicated nurse, a devout Catholic, and will be missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, George W. Lotz, Jr., and her sisters Merle L. Switzer, Beatrice C. Prim, and Fayvette C. Randall.
She is survived by her brother, Harvey W. Lotz, her nephew George W. Lotz III and several nieces, including Margaret (Graziano) Fruzzetti and their son Giancarlo.
Interment will be attended by family members at the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society or Wounded Veterans.
