Margaret M. Sanders, 96, passed away on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, after being admitted to St. Vincent’s Hospital of Jacksonville, Florida late Thursday night, May 7th.

Margaret was born in Jacksonville, Florida to William & Lena McCormick on February 3rd, 1924. Margaret called Jacksonville home for almost all of her life.

She is survived by her daughter Len and her three sons William (Jilaine), Cledith (Regina), and Kevin (Cammie). She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer and Bryan, and her four great grandchildren.

Margaret graduated from Lee High School of Jacksonville, Florida and later went on to graduate from Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia.

Margaret worked for the war effort during World War II at NAS JAX repairing and riveting sheet metal to damaged airplanes. This is where she would meet her future husband.

Margaret was a teacher in Duval County for over 34 years.  She taught hundreds of students; many of which would come back and visit her from time to time.

Margaret loved genealogy! She would soend countless hours with her daughter Len researching the Sanders and Shellhorse families back to the 1800s. Margaret and Len later published a book based on all of their research.

She is predeceased by her husband Cledith A. Sanders.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

    Mrs. Sanders was a long time parishioner at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. We are happy to offer a Mass for her intentions and the happy repose of her soul. God bless her family and may she rest in peace.
