Mary Louisa Bartlum Walker

Mary Louisa Bartlum Walker, a seventh generation Floridian, was born January 15, 1927, in Orlando.  She died September 22, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida.  After graduating from Orlando Senior High, she attended Randolph-Macon Women’s College and graduated from Vanderbilt University.  She married James W. Walker at St. Luke’s Cathedral August 26, 1949. After Dr. Walker completed medical school and pediatric residency, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida.  In 2007, they moved to Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, a retirement community in Gainesville.  Dr. Walker died there in 2013.  Her parents, William Leonard Bartlum and Mary Theodosia Weltch Bartlum, and her sister and brother-in-law, Anita Bartlum Wilson and Dr. Charles F. Wilson also died before her.  She is survived by three sons, James W. Walker, Jr., his wife Kristin, Leonard Bartlum Walker , his wife Elizabeth, and James W. Walker, III; her granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Walker, and grandsons, Paul Weltch Walker, his wife Karen, John, Bartlum Walker and Henry William Walker, great grandchildren, Paul Weltch Walker, Jr. and Bailey Grace Walker; two nephews, Dr. Charles L. Wilson, his wife Bobbie, his sons David and Dennis, and William B. Wilson, his wife Suzanne, and her granddog, Peyton, and many beloved cousins.  She will be buried in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Humane Society in your area or to a charity of your choice.
