The Life of Meredith B Linville – Jack

Born September 18, 1925 in Flemingsburg, KY to Neville and Georgia Walton Linville, Jack was one of 4 children. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and was eventually stationed in Jacksonville FL where he met Ella Louise Jermain. They married on December 8, 1944 and had 3 girls, Harriet, Charlotte, and Jackie. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in February 1946 as an Air Radioman. After the passing of his wife Ella Louise, he later met and married Merle on November 2, 1986, becoming a stepdad to another daughter, Karen.

Mr. Linville retired from the Jacksonville Shipyards as an estimator. After his retirement, he fully enjoyed his favorite sports teams. He was an avid Florida Gator fan with season tickets to home football games and traveled to many away games. Jack still followed and cheered for his Kentucky Wildcats basketball unless they played the Gators. Though he enjoyed many sports, he favored college teams. Jack was a member of The American Legion and often played pool and shared stories with many long-time friends. Uncle Jack loved family reunions and getting all dressed up. He will be fondly remembered for his Orange and Blue attire from the top of his head to the tip of his toes.

Jack Linville was pre-deceased by his parents, Neville and Georgia, his wife Ella Louise, a sister Aleta, his daughter Charlotte, his daughter Jackie, his granddaughter Angel, and loved sisters-in-law, and life-long friends.

Jack is survived by his wife Merle, his sister Stella Linville Caruso (Joe) of Merritt Island, his brother Don Linville (Sharon) of Wallingford, his daughter Hariett (Larry) of Satsuma, stepdaughter, Karen of Jacksonville, grandchildren Crystal, Damien, Candy, Danielle, step-granddaughter Lonnie, and 4 great-grandchildren (2 of which he and Merle have custody of), 2 great great-grandchildren, and many loving family members.

Jack was a good husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed, but we know we will meet again.

Rest in Peace, Jack.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Friday January 3rd, 2025 in Evergreen Chapel 4535 Main St Jacksonville, FL 32206 (904) 353-3649.
