Michael Lewis McCary, also known as Mary Beth, age 67, died August 6, 2020 at 7:15 AM in the loving care of all nurses and staff at the Veteran’s Care Center in Waco, TX. Funeral arrangements are with Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory.
Born on September 5, 1952, he was described as a bright, talkative child and talented musician. He played piano and guitar in a band called “The Reasons Why” in his teenage years. He also liked to dance. Those who knew Mike said he had a sweet disposition. The last years of his life were well attended to and cared for by the VA until his departure. He preferred to go by the name Mary Beth. He had a good ending to his life.
He is survived by his mother Ameribelle Ward Becktel, stepfather Jay Bruce Becktel, brothers Ward Turney McCary and his wife Kim, Mark Thompson McCary and his wife June, sister Martha Francis McCary and her husband Bruce, nieces Marion and Olivia, nephews Adam, Theodore, Peter, Wallace, and Tome. He was married twice; once to Terry Waters and once to Judith Anne Davis.
He is preceded in death by his father Tome Turney McCary, died 2005, and his grandmother Marion Lewis Ward (Grams), died in 1996.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Thursday August 13, 2020 in Evergreen Chapel 4535 Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held in the chapel 30 minutes prior to the service.
