Nancy Hoopes Morris, age 90, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 12, 2022, having led a long and Christ filled life. Nancy was born on June 4, 1932, in Pittsburg, PA to Eugene Sargent Hoopes, Jr, and his wife Nan Page Hoopes. She was raised in Massillon, Ohio, and resided in Jacksonville, from 1956, and later Orange Park and finally at her home in Hibernia, on the shore of the St. John’s River.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Sheldon Alexander Morris, and her sons, Sheldon Alexander Morris III, and Michael Alexander Morris. Also predeceased by her brothers, Dewitt Page Hoopes, and E. Sargent Hoopes III, and Davidson Hoopes. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Dana Hall School at Wellesley, MA, and received a BS in Education from Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Mrs. Morris taught in public schools in Illinois and Florida. Her interest in education found expression on the Boards of Episcopal High School, St. Johns Country Day School, and Saint Andrew’s Sewanee School, St Andrew’s, Tennessee.
Mrs. Morris was a past president of the Junior League of Jacksonville, Board Member of the former Children’s Museum, (MOSH), the Family Counseling Center, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America (NSCDASI), the Clover Garden Circle, and the North Florida Christian Center.
Nancy’s devotion to Jesus Christ was reflected in her membership in intercessory prayer groups in her church and neighborhood. This was her greatest passion and service.
Nancy’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday September 10, 2022 at Grace Anglican Church at 5804 Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL. Nancy will later be inurned in a family graveside service at 3 PM at Evergreen Cemetery and Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

We will miss you Nancy, but we will cherish the memories of many good times together.
