Paula Rawlins

Rawlins, Paula Elaine, 79, went to be with our Lord April 23, 2025. Born June 15, 1945 in Duval County, Jacksonville, Florida where she was a lifetime resident. Paula attended public school in Duval County, graduating from Andrew Jackson High School in 1963.

She received her teaching degree (Bachelor of Science) from Florida Southern (Lakeland, FL.) in Physical Education. She furthered her education (Master’s Degree)  in Physical Education from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL.  She taught public school for 39 years in Duval County Schools, where she was a Physical Education teacher and coach. She had a special love for football, especially Florida State University.

Paula is preceded in death by her Father William Lawrence Rawlins, her Mother Mary Lenoir Braziel Rawlins, her sisters Lt. Col. Carol V. Rawlins (USAF) and Monica Lynn Rawlins. Survivors include her sister Janice L. Day (Don), Nephews: Chad and Joshua (Leslie) Day, Niece: Erin (Joseph) Stitt, Great Nephews: Dakota (Gayla), and Luke Day, Great Nieces: Jessica and Savannah Day, Scarlett Stitt, and a longtime friend and huge part of our family, Joann Powell, Uncle: Dr. Delano Braziel , and many cousins.

Paula deeply loved Jesus and her family. She always enjoyed reading her Bible and daily devotionals. Her favorite bible verse was Psalms 23. She was very giving and brought much happiness to her family. Paula was blessed with such a truly supportive and special friend Joann. Their companionship was a source of joy.  Paula also had a special fondness for cats. Paula’s legacy of love, laughter and faith will live on in all who had the honor of knowing her.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 30th. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until the time of the service at the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville FL, 32206.
