Phileen Lewis Soliven

Phileen Lewis Soliven

The family of Phileen Lewis Soliven announces her passing on May 16, 2026, with deep sadness and profound gratitude for the beautiful life she lived. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Phileen was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. She was the loving wife of 61 years to her husband, Eulogio Soliven; devoted mother to Michael (Stephanie) Soliven and Elena Doris, proud Lola to her grandchildren Nathan Doris and Sarah, Abigail, and Paige Soliven, a reassured relative to many, and a valued friend to all in her circle.

Phileen lived a life centered on caring for others.  For more than a decade, she volunteered at UF Health Jacksonville, where she lovingly rocked premature babies—offering comfort, warmth, and the gentle presence that only she could give. Her compassion extended far beyond the hospital walls. She spent decades working in and supporting her father’s iconic North Jacksonville business, Phil’s Shoes, where she became part of the fabric of the community. Generations of customers knew her by name, and she treated each one with the same kindness and sincerity she gave her own family.

Phileen also held a deep and enduring connection to her friends and family in the Philippines, where she was a beloved supporter and presence across generations.  Her love and philanthropy traveled across oceans, and she remained a steady source of encouragement, generosity, and affection to her Filipino family and community.

Family was the heart of Phileen’s world. She cherished not only her children and grandchildren, but also the many nieces, nephews, and their children whose lives she touched.  She delighted in watching each new generation grow, always offering her warmth, guidance, and unwavering love.

Whether through her stories, her cooking, or her quiet (and sometimes sarcastic) humor, Phileen had a gift for making people feel seen and cared for.  She created moments that became lifelong memories for all. Her resilience and determination were hallmarks of her personality.  Phileen believed in showing up, loving fully, and giving more than she ever asked for in return.  Above all, Phileen will be remembered for her cheerful presence, her unmistakable cuteness, and the steadfast loyalty she offered to everyone she loved.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as Phileen was a passionate animal lover, especially her cats.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in the Temple Section, 4535 Main St. Jacksonville, Florida, 32206, on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 2:00pm.  Arrangements are under the direction and care of Evergreen Funeral Home – 904.353.3649.

Aunt Phileen’s unwavering support was an anchor of stability during my teens. Her sharp wit and unquestionable love was a blessing.

Aunt Phileen was a force to be reckoned with, everything she did was with deep passion. She was a dedicated jaguar fan and we loved watching the games with her. Our family will miss her deeply

    The La

Saving the Best for Last – Philene always managed to show up fashionably late. While her brother and sisters rushed ahead, Philene stayed with us, keeping the stories alive, keeping us laughing, and keeping the Lewis family spirit running on pure charm and stubbornness. The last to go is the one who knew how to enjoy the party the longest. Keep the party going until we meet again Philenie beanie!
