Roger Michael Girgis, Sr., 80, of Yulee, Florida, passed away on July 22, 2026.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Roger dedicated his life to his family and his trade. He spent ten years working in the sheet metal industry before starting his own business, Roger Girgis Metal Works, which he proudly owned and operated for 47 years.
Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found joy in hard work, whether at the shop or in his own backyard, where he could often be found tending to and weeding his yard. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, and he touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
On April 10, 1965, Roger married the love of his life, the former Josephine “JoAnn” Geiger, and together they shared over 61 years of marriage.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Josephine (JoAnn) Girgis; his children, Roger Girgis, Jr. and Cathy Aten (Stephen); his grandchildren, Corey Girgis, Cathy Bradberry (Colby), and Taylor Hodge (Richard); his great-grandchildren, Paige Bury, Elizabeth Girgis, Waylon Girgis, Cole Bradberry, Michael Girgis, and Ginnie Hodge; and several nieces and nephews, too numerous to name, but dearly loved by him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Matile Girgis; his sister, Freda Girgis; his brother, George Girgis (Ruby); and his brother, Fred Girgis (Patricia).
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice, Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring, in Roger’s memory.
