Ronald E. Geiger

April 2, 1939 – February 15, 2024

Ronald Edward Geiger, 84, passed peacefully on February 15, 2024. Born on April 2, 1939, in Dinsmore, Florida and is survived by his wife, Patricia D. Geiger and his daughters, Cynthia D. Laforty and Nicole Miller (Mark Miller).

Ronald was an amazing man and dedicated father and husband. He was a native of Jacksonville and Fernandina his entire life. Starting from an early age he was always a hard worker, delivering the newspaper on his paper route in the early morning hours to working at and eventually managing Mary Carter Paints. Graduating from Jacksonville’s Andrew Jackson High School, he then enlisted in the National Guard where he spent the next 8 years of his life, while working with his father-in-law at Jax Ornamental Iron.  Taking over the business, he renamed it Vulcan Steel, Inc. and became one of the top fabricators in Jacksonville, providing steel for several buildings in downtown Jacksonville. After a long and successful career, Ronald retired in the mid 90’s to enjoy the remainder of his life with family, traveling to the Smokey Mountains and working outside in the yard on the Trout River. Ronald loved watching the Jacksonville Jaguars. He valued hard work and attention to detail. He always reminded us to be thankful to the Good Lord for all of our blessings and gifts bestowed on us.

Ronald and Patricia Geiger were married on October 3, 1959, at the then Pearl Street location of North Jacksonville Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida and this past October celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They have had a wonderful life together including having 8 grandchildren: Tiffany, Jade, Lucas and Zane Taylor and Taylor Cox, Kate Miller, Yali Miller and Sarah Miller and 5 great grandchildren: Olivia, Corbin and Skylnn Zilla, and Makayla and Zane Collins.

Ronald always had a deep appreciation of his large and blended family growing up with his mother and Father, Lena Harris (Isham Harris) and Cyril Geiger (Louise Geiger), three brothers, C.L. Geiger, Marvin Geiger, Clarence Geiger (Gail), and sister, Gladys Casey (Joe Casey), half siblings, Carlton Geiger (Debbie) and David Geiger, and step-siblings Becky, Linda, Betty and Jimmy.

Funeral Service will be Friday February 23rd, 2024 at 11 AM in Evergreen Chapel 4535 Main St Jacksonville, Florida 32206 (904) 353-3649. A visitation will be held in the Chapel for one hour prior to the service.
