Roslyn W. Johnson, 92 passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 22, 2023. She was born in Jacksonville FL on Oct. 21, 1930, to Amos Preston Wilson and Annabelle Koerner and was also cared for by her maternal grandmother Ida Bell Armstrong Fortenberry Koerner.
Roslyn lived a long and healthy life until a recent illness was too much for her kind and loving heart so she was taken home to heaven.
Roslyn is survived by her Husband Giles E. Johnson, Daughter Camille Velez, Son Anthony Johnson, two grandsons Cameron and Carson, and granddaughter Jamie.
Roslyn graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1949 and then went on to work in the mortgage business for many years. After becoming a mother she was able to devote herself to her children and family for 10 years before returning to work. She was employed again in the mortgage business for a time before later working for the Auxiliary at University Hospital. She retired at age 62 but decided that was not for her and returned to work at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church then Memorial Hospital where she finally retired for good at 84.
Roslyn had a very strong lifelong Christian faith. In her early years, she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, then later North Main Street Baptist Church. During her most recent years, she has been a member of Good News Baptist Church.
Although she was a hard worker she also enjoyed music, singing, and dancing. She met Giles while singing in the Main Street Baptist Church Choir in 1958 and dancing was how she had the most fun. She was able to develop lasting friendships through Ballroom Dancing which she enjoyed for many years and was still dancing at almost 90. She also loved and was loved by animals of all kinds.
The most important thing in her life though was being there for her family and others. She had a very caring, giving, and understanding nature and was able to help many people throughout her life. She was the cornerstone of our family and lived her life in service of us. She will be forever loved, missed, and remembered for her never-ending devotion to her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held 11 AM Friday March 3rd, 2023 in Evergreen Cemetery.
