Ruth Nixon

Ruth Nixon was born November 25, 1925, to the late Rev. Jame B. and Julia Kinchen in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended public schools in Duval County. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a lifelong member of King Solomon Baptist Church.

Ruth worked for Duval County Public schools in the culinary department. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and eating seafood, especially crabs.

Ruth departed her life on April 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her daughters Julia Crossley and Delores Nixon, and her son Christopher Nixon.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memories her daughter and caregivers, Sabrina Nixon (Sherman Saulsburry) and Anthony Crossley, brothers James and Thomas, sister Von, many nieces and nephews including the Pookie family and Kelly Davis, granddaughter Ruth Ann, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, cousins, and many sorrowing friends and church family.
