Shorty Eugene Richardson

Shorty Eugene Richardson, 69, passed away on April 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Born on February 24, 1956, Shorty lived a life marked by hard work, deep devotion to family and friends, and unwavering faith. After moving to Florida and marrying his beloved wife Donna Lynn, he began working at Simplex Papermill. When the company closed, he continued his dedicated work ethic at Beaver Street Fisheries, where he remained employed until his passing. Shorty took immense pride in his job and formed lasting friendships through his work.

A man of strong faith, Shorty was saved and baptized at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. One of the most cherished moments in his family’s memory is watching him walk down the aisle to accept Jesus as his Savior.

Shorty found joy in simple pleasures—watching westerns, caring for his many animals including cats, chickens, and roosters, and spending time on his lawnmower. He often said mowing was his time to talk with God and remember Donna. Sundays were special; he would faithfully mow the lawn for loved ones without fail. He also had a passion for cooking, especially Southern dishes passed down from his mother Lillie.

He leaves behind a loving family: daughter Hope Lynn (fiancé Eric), granddaughter Julie Ann; sisters Mary Smith (Lamar), Linnie Daniels (late husband Mitchell Daniels), Debbie; brother LC; and on Donna’s side, sister-in-laws Barbara Grantham and Karen Grantham, and brother-in-law Eddie Grantham.

He now joins in eternal rest his wife Donna Lynn, parents Lillie and Connie, brother Curtis, and sister Lois.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 28th at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206, officiated by Brother Tim Rigdon. Arrangments are under the direction and care of Evergreen Funeral Home (904)-353-3649

Shorty will be remembered as a loving, giving man who put others before himself always. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

To the best dad a girl could ever have. You never hesitated to help me Julie and Eric aunt Barbara and uncle Eddiie
with whatever we needed. Even if you didn’t have the tools or equipment to do the job you searched and asked until you found it. Once when our air conditioning went out you did everything under the sun to make sure that it came back on for us. Through My Dad, you Provided us everything we needed and more. My dad has some serious troubles of his own having lost his wife in October 2018 but he never faltered and never ever failed to let us down.
