Sylvia Starling Hatch

Sylvia Starling Hatch

Sylvia Starling Hatch went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2019, at the age of 74.    Sylvia was born in Jacksonville, FL on January 28, 1945, to parents David M. Starling, Jr and Nancy Irene Thomas.  She grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1963.  She committed her life to Christ in June of 1960 and throughout the 60’s and 70’s she was a pianist for her church. After high school, Sylvia was a secretary at the FBI, Pontiac Motor Division, and Peat Marwick & Mitchell, all in Jacksonville.  She relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio for a short period; then lived in the Orlando area before settling down in Ocala, Florida for the past 35 or so years.  She ended her career as a billing clerk at Radiology Associates of Ocala, FL in 2011.

Sylvia loved cats and almost always had a feline companion for all of her adult life.  She spoiled them all and loved them unconditionally.  They were always a great comfort to her and provided much-needed company in these past years when she was suffering from memory loss.

She will always be remembered for her loving and caring spirit, and her adventurousness and zest for life.  She had a fun and outgoing personality, loved to laugh, and loved to entertain, organize, and plan.  Her light will carry on forever in our hearts.

Sylvia is predeceased by her parents.  She is survived by her sister Patsy Crumpton (Tom), nephew Justin Perry, niece Jenna Kobischen (Jason), and her cat Ella.

The family will have a memorial service at the graveside at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 North Main St, Jacksonville, FL 32206, on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:30 am, followed by lunch and fellowship at the home of Tom & Patsy Crumpton.

Arrangements by Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sylvia was part of my life for awhile and I always enjoyed the time that she, Patsy and myself had together. They were like the sisters I never had. I am so sorry for all who loved her, but she is in a much greater place now, with no pain
