Virgilio Amparo

Virgilio Amparo, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, November 29th, 2024.  He was 75.  Virgilio was born January 20th, 1949, in San Francisco De Macoris, Dominican Republic, the son of Enrique Amparo and Maria Ramos.

Virgilio (Papi) was a positive, spiritual, loving, and fun person.  He was a devoted son, husband, father, abuelo, brother, uncle and friend.  He always brought such an impactful sense of calm to any room.  He was the “light” of the party and always wanted the best for his family and all who crossed his path.  Papi could create something out of nothing with his carpenter skills that were self-taught.  He raised a family with a tool belt, hammer and nails.  Papi never forgot his home,  “My Country”, the Dominican Republic.  He passed on to his family every day his many amazing cultural traits and his love of music.

Virgilio (Papi) or how mom would say (Mi Negro) was a great Blessing that God gave us the opportunity to share life with.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Virgilio is survived by his wife Mercedes Amparo; his children, Virgilio Jr. (Erika), Virginia (Leonardo), Henry (Mildred), Virmersy (Daniel) and Maria (Carlos); grandchildren; Virgilio Jr., Eric, Leonardo Jr., Anthony, Leanna, Marianna, Henry Jr., Gianna, Nicholas, Aliana, Daniel, Jaydalin, Joseph Jr. (Mason) and Mia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 10th at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 601 Airport Center Dr East, Jacksonville, FL 32218.  Visitation will be held from noon to 4 pm on Monday December 9th at the Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 4535 Main St, Jacksonville, FL 32206, The chapel is located on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery at the base of the bell tower.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction and care of Evergreen Funeral Home – (904) 353-3649.
