Willa Ruth Jordan

Willa Ruth Jordan

Willa Ruth Jordan crossed over into glory in the early hours of November 14, 2024. Her final moments were spent peacefully, and in the loving company of her daughter.
“Oma” (as some grandchildren knew her) — was born Willie Ruth Gordon in the small country town of Gough, Georgia, on March 30, 1930. An avid lover of music, she joined the church choir, wherein she would further her vocal gifts, brush shoulders with legends, and share her passion for Christ! Her achievements did not end there. Willa was ever a servant to those in need as a christian, a beautician, and a nurse. As a private duty nurse, she boasted several celebrity clients — from the inventors of Farberware to Castro Convertibles. In the nineteen eighties, she went on to study childcare, graduating beside her daughter to become a child development associate. For twenty years, she served patients at Holy Cross, before retiring at age seventy-five. What’s more, Willa was a dedicated mother and a rock solid matriarch. She loved puzzles, long conversations, baking, and watching “the soaps” with family. She is predeceased by three sons (Larry, Charles, Carl) survived by five children (Dorothy, Mark, Sonja, Ruth Reneé, Carolyn) — four siblings (Willy Walker Jr., and Bobby Walker of California; sisters Rebecca Kelly (Jackie) and Florence Kelly (Tony) of Georgia) eleven grandchildren (Yvette, Patrick, Sharon, Wendy, Alicia, Andrew, Makia, Reuben, Wesley, Jessica, Jordan) and over thirty great grandchildren. Willa was a beacon of strength, warmth, and boundless support, who had many friends. Among those many who loved her, she will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and most importantly — never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday November 30, 2024 in Evergreen Chapel 4535 Main St Jacksonville, FL 32206. Family and friends may gather in the Chapel beginning at 10:30 AM
