Yvonne Hazouri Allen

Yvonne Hazouri Allen

Yvonne Hazouri Allen died peacefully surrounded by her children on June 18, 2022.  Yvonne was born on December 5, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida to Charles J. Hazouri and Mary Maloly Hazouri; and was one of four children.  Yvonne lived almost her entire life in Jacksonville and was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and companion.

Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Philip George Allen, Senior; and by her wonderful companion later in life, Dominick Sciotto. She loved spending her summers with Dominick in Long Island. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Charles J. Hazouri, Jr., Edith Calise (Joseph), Shirley Newton (Ray) and precious nephew, Jimmy Calise.

She is survived by her children, Mary Beth Allen (Wendy), Patricia Williams (Tommy), Karen Slater (Tim) and Philip Allen (Cindy).  She leaves behind her most precious grandchildren, Ryan Slater, Robert Allen, Jessie Slater Horn (Joshua), Savannah Williams and Mya Allen.

She was always so grateful for the love and support from her nephew, a brother in life to her children, Charlie Calise (Lana).

She leaves behind dear nephews, Roger and Charlie Boy; niece, Deborah; special nieces and nephews, Matthew, Carly, TJ and Taylor, many cousins, special friends and her wonderful friend and confidant Father Frank Iacona, who is a part of our family. Mom was an adopted member of Mary and Jim Slater’s family and we are grateful for always including her in their family gatherings.

Yvonne’s husband Philip was the absolute love of her life.  She never forgot him for one day; and we know she is with him now.

Yvonne loved to dance.  She was dedicated and instrumental in maintaining and building the dance community of the Florida Boppers, Inc. dance club in Jacksonville, Florida.  She was also inducted into the Hall of Fame of Club Savoy.  She loved all of her fellow dancers and the time she spent with them.

Yvonne enjoyed her short time at Starling at Nocatee and enjoyed being with her many new friends there.

Yvonne’s family are so very grateful to the wonderful care she received at Baptist South Hospital and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

The funeral service will be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville on Friday, June 24, starting with a rosary at 10:00 a.m., a Funeral Mass at 11:00, followed by a reception at Kohls Hall.  Internment will be at Evergreen Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. We would like to thank Father Matt King of Assumption Catholic Church for his visits to our mom while she was in the hospital, and for presiding over her Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Aunt Yvonne you were always very special to me and my whole family. You always lit up a room and very few people I can say I’ve known all my life. What a blessing to have four children and grandchildren. May God bless you and your entire family. Love James Kristi Mussallem and family

To Our Dear Allen family – You are strong, resilient, kind, generous, humble, humorous and above all fun! These are all attributes that Yvonne has passed on to all of you. We have always felt truly honored to have been warmly embraced by Yvonne and in turn all of you. We will sorely miss her but we are so grateful that through her legacy we have you.
With love and deepest condolences for the loss of your dear Mom. We will miss her dearly.

I have such happy memories of the visits with you, Edith, Shirley, Charlie, and Aunt Mary and Uncle Charlie. Daddy lost his parents at such a young age and everyone in Jacksonville was definitely a second family to him. We loved all of you so much and I only wish we could go back to enjoy those times again. You will always be in my heart, “Aunt” Yvonne and the love you all gave Daddy will always mean more than I can express.
Love and all my sympathy to our cousins. Mary, Trish, Karen, and Philip, and their families.

Trish, Karen, Mary and Phil, This is a beautiful picture of your Mom and I can see all of you in her smile! I will always remember how sweet she was to me. She has left an indelible legacy of love, kindness, strength, perseverance, compassion, gratitude and undying love of family and friends! These are what will sustain you as you navigate the unbearable grief of losing your Mother and begin the healing process! I love you all so much! Tammy Hughes

Dear Allen Family, your mother will always have a special place in our hearts. I have so many fond memories of her when I was young and later as an adult. Her strength, love and spirit always prevailed. She was always so gracious to me and treated me as family. I know she loved each of you. I always thank her for giving me my great friend Mary. It is an honor to be part of the Allen family and we will always love Mom Allen. Love, Steph and Mark
