Attention Evergreen Property Owners
We are reviewing and electronically updating all records. If you have not reviewed your records with Evergreen in the past two years, please call 904-353-3649 for an appointment. Ask for Rick.
I would like to invite everyone to the annual Evergreen St. Paddy’s Run. The run is scheduled for Sunday, March 15 and will start at 8am. If you haven’t participated or if you haven’t been a spectator, you really have missed something spectacular.
The 10k and 5k course is run entirely through Evergreen on our nearly 10 miles of paved roads and almost completely under our beautiful canopy of trees. Over 1000 runners are expected to participate and there will be many spectators.
It is so beneficial to Evergreen’ s future to have people from all over Jacksonville and beyond experiencing this wonderful place. We also enjoy promoting health and fitness.
If you would like to participate please contact First Place Sports to register for the run or just come out and join me for the fun.

HISTORY CORNER
Sister Mary Ann was born Ellen Hoare in 1828, and was orphaned in County Roscommon, Ireland in the early 1830s. She fled to New York during the potato famine, and became a novice with the Sisters of Mercy in Connecticut. Her order brought her to St. Augustine, after which time she came to Immaculate Conception in downtown Jacksonville. Sister Mary Ann braved the jails to pray with the condemned and nurtured Union and Confederate soldiers shot, stabbed, battered and dismembered during the Civil War in Jacksonville. In 1885, Sister Mary Ann established St. Mary’s Orphanage behind Immaculate Conception Church between Ocean and Newnan Streets downtown. This was Florida’s first childcare institution, and operated as a home for kids until 1952, long after Sister Mary Anne’s death in 1914. She is laid to rest in the St. Mary’s section of Evergreen Cemetery.
