Janice Deanna Pantaleo peacefully went home to the Lord on February 21, 2025.
Janice was born July 28, 1944 to Eunetta Louise Boatman and Charles Alvin Butte in Detroit, Michigan. She spent her early years in Michigan, marrying John Pantaleo, with whom she had two daughters. In 1975, she moved to Florida with her girls, embarking on a new chapter in her life.
A trailblazer in the field of computer programming at a time when few women were present in the industry, Janice began her career as a key punch operator in the late 1960s. Determined to advance, she seized every opportunity for training and education. In the 1970s, she joined the City of Hollywood, Florida, working with computers that filled entire rooms. Over time, she played a crucial role in developing the city’s network infrastructure, long before the era of Windows. She later took on the responsibility of training and supporting various departments using the system. After retiring from the City of Hollywood, she continued her career with a software company specializing in global human resources management. Wherever she worked, Janice was deeply respected, and her family discovered countless letters praising her patience, professionalism, and kindness.
Janice was cherished by all who knew her. She greeted life with a warm smile, a wink, and a hug, bringing humor, kindness, and compassion to every interaction. She had a deep love for her family, friends, and dogs, as well as a passion for flowers, plants, and gardening—a peaceful way for her to connect with the Lord. Her faith was unwavering, and she sought to share it with others. She found joy in music and dancing and had an undeniable charm. Known for her kind and generous heart, she never complained and always expressed gratitude. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel special and valued.
Janice is survived by her beloved daughters, Jacqueline (Eaton) Pantaleo and Kimberly (Ludicke) Pantaleo, as well as her siblings: Kathy (Ratti) Butte, Charles A. Butte Jr., Donna Butte, Michael Waites, and Deborah Waites. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Janice’s family finds comfort in knowing that they will be reunited with her in Heaven.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday February 28th, 2025 at 1:30 PM in Evergreen Cemetery 4535 Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. A visitation will be held in Evergreen Chapel at 1 PM.

One day I received an email from a person through ancestry.com. It was Janice. She sent me pictures of my dad and grandma. I immediately called my cousins and they confirmed that they had a sister who they didn’t know. Me and my sister Brenda conversed with her through email and helped her reach her siblings Kathy,Charles and Donna. Kathy then arranged a little family reunion in Michigan. We met Janice and it was like we had known her forever. We were able to visit her in Florida a couple times and get to know her even better. I found her to be an inspiration. She is kind, and smart and beautiful. Me and my sisters Judy,Brenda,Tammy, and Candace are so fortunate we met her on earth and one day in heaven.
