On Monday, January 20th, 2025, Roger Wayne Witt was called home to be with the Lord. His passing is felt with deep loss among his family and all who knew him and had the pleasure of being around him. Wayne brought so much joy and happiness to all that knew him throughout his life. His home was always open to friends and family, as was his garage where dozens of cars were built, upgraded, or repaired. He is most famously known for his “come on in and sit down” line anytime there was company in his home. Wayne never met a stranger, and would always find common ground with every single person he met. On any given day, you could always find Wayne in his garage tinkering with something. Many of those times were with dear friends and family members. He never had a shortage of stories either. No matter the scenario, Wayne had a story to go with it from the “good ole days”. As anyone who has ever been in the audience from one of his stories, you without a doubt have been blessed with his infamous laugh that accompanies his stories. Wayne was most definitely everyone’s go to person for advice. Whether it be a personal hardship, loss, silly question, or just not knowing what to do or where to go, he was always there to help anyone.
Wayne began his journey on August 6th, 1939, in Alachua, Florida. Son to the late Alfred Leon Witt and Elize Mable Campbell. After moving from Alachua to Jacksonville as a young child, he would eventually graduate from Ribault High School in 1959. From there he would join the Air National Guard to serve his country. Upon honorable discharge in 1962, he joined the IBEW Local 177 of Jacksonville and began his 40 year career in the electrical industry. He counted 40 years of dedicated service to Miller Electric Company, where he would retire as a Project Manager in 2001. In the early part of his career, he would catch a date with a young woman who would eventually become his wife of 55 years. Wayne and Flo married in March of 1969 where they would start their lives together.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Elize, his sister Mable Redden, mother-in-law Rosalee Brown, his son Mark Witt, and daughter-in-law Joan Witt.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Florence, Son Troy Witt (Spring), Brothers Ed Witt & Fred Witt, Grandchildren Heather Hicks (Brad), Kameron Witt, & Mackenzie Witt, 3 great-grandchildren, and a loving group of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the chapel of Evergreen Cemetery 4535 N Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206, followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. Alan Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Foundation of Community Hospice & Palliative Care 4266 Sunbeam Road Jacksonville, FL 32257 (Roger Wayne Witt)

My heart is broken. Wayne was the kindest man. Every time I would go see him and Flo they wanted me to stay all day. Flo would try to feed me and Wayne would tell stories. They are both the kindest people. they would refer to me and call me Nurse Debbie, which I always found funny. Wayne will truly be missed by those who knew him. Prayers and hugs to the family as they start the grieving and healing. I love you guys
